International Intergenerational Network of Centers meeting

Academic centers have long promoted the mainstreaming of sustainability in home institutions, in higher education, and in the larger culture of our time. One purpose of this network is to document and report how individual centers practice sustainability in their home institutions and communities. We wish to promote collaboration among centers and to expand our vision of strong sustainability to other centers and institutions. We ale seek to engage students and junior colleagues as much as possible. The network would promote intergenerational collaboration in research and activities. We see the network as a conduit for partnerships, rather than as a formalized institution.

This meeting is an opportunity to advance the network's research agenda in intergenerational learning. We will discuss the development of the next book in the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development book series at Wageningen Academic Publishers. The previous volume, and the network's first research project, was Intergenerational Learning and Transformative Leadership for Sustainable Futures, published in 2014. We will also discuss governance matters.

International collaboration in the development of ESD training resources for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

The overall goal of the UNESCO Global Action Programme (GAP) is to generate and scale up actions in all levels and areas of education and learning, and to accelerate progress towards sustainable development and the the post-2015 agenda. The meetings will provide a briefing on the UNESCO Partner Network that has been established to contribute towards GAP Priority Action Area 3: "Building capacities of educators and trainers”. If you would like to join (or report back to your institution on the possibility of joining) an international collaborative group of ECCE professionals and researchers developing resources for ESD training, please contact ingrid.pramling@ped.gu.se to register and do your best to attend at least one of the sessions. Aquatic Education

We will discuss the current and future challenges and the implementation of a thematic network on marine education worldwide, through presentations of best practices, proposals, and resources on marine, rivers and lakes.

We will focus in particular on:

-Sustainable Fishing, Think Blue SFTB

-Marine litter education

-Marine invasive species MIS

A wide range of participants are welcome; institutions, NGOs, net-works, schools and universities, in order to share contents and experiences that will enhance the thematic publication “il Pianeta Azzurro”.

Empowering civil society to improve ESD across Europe 

Subnational governments are key actors in the implementation of environmental education policies.

This joint session will explore how regional governments promote and support environmental education programs, through different kind of structural actions which imply public participation and empowering civil society.

This WEEC side event organized by the Government of Catalonia and the Lombardy Region will explore how regional governments promote and support environmental education programs and initiatives by means of different planned and systematic actions that enable the engagement, empower and participation of civil society and in particular, the third environmental sector.
